SPORTS’ PROVISION
Within the PE Department at St. Colman’s High & Sixth Form College the mission is to promote healthy lifestyles in all pupils. Active, enjoyable
and challenging Physical Education learning experiences encourage pupils to develop:
• Positive attitudes to and enjoyment of physical activity;
• An awareness of the positive impact of physical activity on health and wellbeing; and
• Positive sporting behaviour and a sense of fair play.
Every student in Year 8 to Year 12 has a one-hour lesson per week. Our facilities include a Sports’ Gym as well as a 2G outdoor pitch.
A wide variety of sports are offered at St. Colman’s during lessons and extra curricular to help extend each students skillset and overall enjoyment
of exercise outside of class time. This is an opportunity for students to socialise with one another and to specialise both in competitive games
and recreational activities whilst promoting their health and fitness.

Students complete non exam PE in every year but can choose to do PE at GCSE level as well as Extended Certificate Level 3 in Sport in our Post

At GCSE level we follow the Pearson BTEC Level 2 First Award in Sport. This course provides an engaging and relevant introduction to the world
of sport. It incorporates important aspects of the industry, such as fitness testing and training for sport and exercise, the psychology of sport,
practical sports performance and sports leadership.
