DRUGS’ EDUCATION
Drug Education in St Colman’s High & Sixth Form College is a continuous progressive process of development of knowledge, attitudes, skills and
values that permits pupils to become more resilient and to develop the abilities necessary to stay safe and promote their own well-being and
that of others. The school provides this education in ways appropriate to age and stage, across a number of areas of the curriculum. The school
works with other agencies as part of the preventative curriculum in relation to drugs education and follows the guidance from statutory bodies
in regard to this. The school believes that empowering students with the knowledge, skills, confidence and resilience necessary, to make safe
and healthy choices, in a world where substances are pervasive and often promoted, in the media, is the most effective way to support students
as they grow to adulthood. The school shares information with parents regarding emerging trends in society that place children at risk and
adapts the content of educational provision to reflect this.
