MULTI-FAITH SCHOOL
At St. Colman’s High and Sixth Form College, Ballynahinch, we take inspiration from the values of our patron, St. Colman, whose life was marked
by humility, faith, and a deep commitment to fostering community. While our school’s Catholic ethos forms the foundation of our mission, we
are proud to embrace and celebrate the diversity of our student body, welcoming those of all faiths and none.
Within our current student body, we are privileged to have members of the Baptist Church, Buddhism, Catholic Church, Church of Ireland,
Congregational Church, Islam, Methodist Church, Presbyterian Church, Seventh Day Adventist Church and many other faiths. This rich diversity
is a cornerstone of our school community, offering students opportunities to share their beliefs and experiences, and to learn from one another.
Through a vibrant Religious Education programme, we explore key Catholic festivals such as Advent, Lent, and Holy Week, alongside
significant traditions of other faiths, such as Ramadan in Islam and Vesak in Buddhism. By recognising and celebrating these festivals, we aim to
promote an inclusive environment where students of all backgrounds feel respected and valued.
Our commitment to inclusivity extends beyond individual traditions. Each year, we celebrate Interfaith Week, a dedicated time for students to
engage in discussions, activities, and events that highlight the importance of understanding and appreciating the beliefs of others.
This celebration reflects our belief in the power of dialogue and mutual respect to build strong, compassionate communities. We aim to instil
values of empathy, tolerance, and respect in every student, preparing them to thrive in an increasingly diverse and interconnected world.
